Welsh Heroes

Welsh Heroes Exhibit Opening at the French Art Colony

The French Art Colony Educational Exhibit, "A Trip to Wales", features Benjy Davies' Welsh Heroes October 4-30, 2009, with an opening reception to be held Sunday, Oct. 4th from 1-3 pm. The 20 original graphics were designed by Benjy for his 2008 Madog Faculty Fellow Presentation, based on a 2004 publication by Culturenet Cymru's list of the top 100 Welsh heroes of all time. His personal choice of heroes was made largely on artistic and aesthetic grounds, rather than ranking.

Personal or group tours can be scheduled Tuesday through Fridays during the month of October. School groups are encouraged to participate as the Madog Welsh Intern, Sioned Wyn, from Cardiff, will be working with FAC staff to present the culture and history of her native country.

Contact the FAC office at (740) 446-3834. Gallery hours to view the exhibit are Tuesday-Friday, 10 am-6pm, 10am-3pm Saturday and 1-5 pm Sunday. Additional information is available by contacting the Madog Center for Welsh Studies at 800-282-7201 ext 7186 or welsh@rio.edu.
